Celebrating their three seniors of Finn G ‘23, Joaquin T-L ‘23, and Cypress 0’ 23, the Bruins capped off a Geffen Academy double-header with a win over Vistamar. Despite the Vikings clear advantage in terms of pure size, the Bruins certainly made up for it in speed and shooting. Led by Nathan M ‘25 in scoring with 23, the rest of the team followed suit. Stevan M ‘26 and Cypress O ‘23 added another 25 combined together, as well as locking up the two guards on the Vikings who were providing a lot of their scoring production for Vistamar.
One of the most interesting developments of this season has been the late emergence of Johnathan K ‘24. In three of his last four games, the big man has scored nearly 50 points collectively. His success has most certainly been instrumental for the overall team play for Geffen Academy, as it provides them with a big man who can not only run the floor, rebound, and dunk, but one who can stretch the floor on occasion as well. His play will be key should the Bruins hope to make noise in the postseason if they get in, with a potential matchup against the #1 team in their division looming in the future. Regardless of their playoff success, the year has been a certain positive for Geffen Academy, as they’ve really begun to cement their own as a team to be reckoned with for years to come.
