Geffen Academy Girls Varsity Bruins Defeat Vistamar Vikings 42-31 to secure #2 seed in Playoffs

Celebrating the senior night of Jesse B ‘23, the Bruins certainly did not disappoint, as they defeated the Vistamar Vikings for the second straight time in the last three weeks. Geffen Academy had control from the opening tip, and while Vistamar made several runs, the Bruins always kept them at bay and eventually put away the pesky Vikings after going on a 6-0 run late in the 4th quarter.

Led by Ciahna M ‘25 with yet another double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, as the Bruins’ size on the interior became once again the leading cause of victory, with the vast majority of their points coming in the painted area. Maya D’ 24 also added 11 points and 8 boards of her own, consistently knocking down 12-foot midrange jumpers throughout the course of the game. With help from the supporting cast, it became too much for Vistamar as the Bruins moved to 9-6. At this point in the season, Geffen Academy is looking forward to the playoffs, as they await a matchup just next week to kick off their hopefully long playoff run.
